How much is enough? Sukin's guide to product use.
When it comes to skincare, the trick to getting the most out of your products comes down to how much of it you actually use. If you’re not applying enough, the product may not be effective at all. Apply too much and say hello to breakouts, greasy skin or worse. It’s all about finding the sweet spot, and each product varies. So, here’s a guide to know how much is enough.
Eye Cream:
Less is always more with eye cream. The area around the eye is the most delicate area on your face. If you apply too much product, you could get yourself into trouble. From irritation, to too much skin dragging from trying to blend in product, you want to be sure to apply the right amount. A pea size amount for both eyes should be ample.
Exfoliating Scrub or Cleanser:
You can afford to be a little more generous with these products. It’s important to have enough cream to accommodate the entire face, you don’t want to skimp. Be sure to be gentle with these products as you don’t want to irritate your skin. Gentle circular movements will work a treat!
Serum:
Serums are predominantly more concentrated meaning a smaller amount is more than effective. Our Sukin serums are generally a little looser than the norm, if you use two pumps of the product that should be adequate. Be sure to apply your serum before your moisturizer and after cleansing.
Moisturizer:
Moisturizer amounts vary - the general rule is to apply about a 10 cent piece worth. You want to ensure that you apply your moisturizer evenly over the face. Begin from the middle of the face and push the product outwards. Don’t be shy to include your neck in the routine, as it is after all, an extension of your face.
If you’re questioning where to splurge and where to save, I would always recommend investing in a serum. Serums hold the most concentrated ingredients, penetrate deeper than any other skincare product and can mostly be used day and night. You skin will be able to absorb the most nutrients through your serum, so it’s important to ensure it is good quality.
Keep in mind, these amounts are purely guidelines. Only you know what works best for your skin. Be thrifty and only use how much is necessary to ensure there is no wastage. Sometimes less actually is more.
